Ubuntu Learning Village: An Immersive Rural Experience

Ubuntu Learning village offers an immersive experience focusing on the arts where visitors get to live, sleep and participate in the day to day activities of everyday life in a village setting. Next to the village is Ubuntu free school for grades 1-5.

Check out the video and photo journal:

School children welcomed us with song and dance, showcasing what they’ve been learning this term.
They showcased traditional dances like: mhande, mbakumba and muchongoyo
We took in an impromptu marimba lesson led by the music teacher, David Tapfuma (who played under the late Stella Chiweshe and is featured on the soundtrack of popular show, Gringo). For many of us, this was our first time leading marimba.
Check out James learning the bass marimba!
The classrooms and buildings have been been beautifully painted by the teachers and school children.
We had the opportunity to take some photos with the school children as they saw us off
We also took in some breathtaking views such as this magical African sunset.

After spending time at the Ubuntu learning village, we proceeded to the Zinyemba family village, where Chaka and Chiedza have their roots. We will share stories from that experience soon!

Until next time!
